Instructions for use

Adding elements

Besides the already observed means of customization, we can personalize the charts even more. We can change the line type, add various elements of both technical and fundamental analysis, check the instrument-related news on the selected date, mark important events (such as dividend pay-outs, earnings reports, insider trades etc.). Lines, shapes, comments and other elements can also be added to the chart.

These functions are accessible from the toolbar above the chart.

Example - Amazon.com

Let us observe a few possibilities of customizing the charts on the example of company Amazon.com.

Firstly, we would like to change the way the price movement is presented. Instead of a line we would like candlesticks, so we use the button Change Line Type.

We would like to include the 50- and the 200-day moving average of the stock price. We can use the arrow next to the Add Analysis button, where moving average is pre-set as one of the commonly used technical indicators.

To access all (over 100) technical indicators that the database offers, we click on the Add Analysis button, where we can also change the selection of the indicators under the arrow.

20-day moving average line gets drawn out. To change the interval from 20- into the 200-day one, we can use different approaches:

  • double click on the line representing the moving average, or
  • move the cursor over the indicator info panel on the top of the chart and click on the 3 dots that appear and choose Settings, or
  • click on the line representing the moving average and 3 dots will appear as per previous point.

A window appears when the interval can be set to 200 days. Choose OK.

The whole process can be repeated to obtain the 50-day moving average and the result is as follows:

Let us include the labels that will represent the quarterly and annual reports and the labels that will show changes in the capital of the company. Under Event Markers choose Earnings and Capital Changes.

By clicking on the labels that appeared we get additional information about the events. In this case, a click on "C" explains that a stock split occurred, and a click on each "E" provides us with the most important data about the chosen annual or quarterly report.

If we wish to export the chart to Excel, we use the Export Chart button as we have already done in the previous section.

Saving templates

The selected elements that have been added and modified can be saved as a template. When drawing a chart of any instrument in the future we can select this template and the same elements will be automatically added to the chart. There is also a variety of pre-set templates already prepared under Templates section.
