LSEG Workspace ENG

Instructions for use

Connecting with Python

One of the functions that Refinitiv Workspace offers is the so-called Codebook, which allows linking to programming language Python (Jupyter Notebook platform). Knowing the basics of Python is recommended (as is the use of Jupyter Notebook).

To open a new Jupyter notebook we select one of the two marked below options. Choosing Python 3 will open a completely empty notebook, while Template already has 2 lines of code prepared to connect to API.

Running the currently selected line in Jupyter Notebook is done by clicking on the Run button or using SHIFT + ENTER.

The folder __Examples__ provides us with numerous already prepared examples with instructions to use. We can simply copy the code from there and edit it according to our needs.

The Get Data tab can also be very helpful. We can type in the desired instrument and the data we want to obtain and the program will generate the code to import it.
