Instructions for use

Screener app for companies

Screener app allows us to create lists of companies, indices, events etc. that satisfy some conditions.

In case we want to filter companies, one way is to choose the option Companies under the Search Tools tab. The shortcut for this page is SCREENER.

A page appears with a filter window on the left and the result output window on the right.

Multiple ways to filter companies are available. The most commonly used filters can be found under the Quick Filters section. On the other hand, by using the Add Filter window we can browse among all the filters that are available in the Screener.

Example of using Screener app for companies

Let us add the first filter — we would like to see companies that are headquartered in Europe (note: Public Companies setting for Universe means that search will be performed only among those that are listed on a stock exchange). By clicking on Add next to Country of Headquarters a new window appears where we tick the option Europe and click on Done.

Because the number of such companies is over 5.000, we will not yet get a table printed out. On the left side in the filtering part we can observe that there are currently 12.345 such companies.

Let us now for example focus on pharmaceutical companies from Europe and apply the filter.

Since the number of such companies fell to 198, we can now observe the table with a list of companies on the right side of the screen. Let us choose the 25 largest among them (we could also choose a top percentiles or set a limit for market capitalization):

As already seen with other ways of comparing companies — among peers and industry — the table can be edited by applying either a pre-made template or a previously saved custom one. Besides that, the Add Column window allows us adding additional columns in the table without applying more filters (and if desired, then save the form as a template).

Export to Excel

As in other cases, exporting to Excel is done by using the below outlined button. The same warning applies when choosing between exporting as values or formulas as with the Peer Analysis table (Comparing companies -> Peer Analysis table).

Screener app for mergers, acquisitions, public offerings ...

Screener app can also be used to filter mergers, acquisitions, public offerings etc. Select Search Tools -> M&A or use shortcut DSCREEN.

The filtering process is then very similar to the one used when screening for companies.

Example – a list of IPOs

If we want to for example look at the list of IPOs from the past week, we set Asset Class to Equity and Issue Type to IPO. A table shows up on the screen.

Let us filter out for example cancelled, postponed and rumoured IPOs from the list. After clicking on Done we get the table we wanted.
