Instructions for use

Help

By pressing the <Help> key when on any page, the user guide for the page opens in a new window. For example, in the screen capture below we can see the explanation for the 2Day column of the WEI function table.

Typing HELP <GO> to the command line will provide us with the home page of the user manual.

Navigating using Bloomberg menus

By pressing the <Menu> key or choosing Related Functions Menu from the toolbar at any time opens the Bloomberg menu, which can be used to navigate around the database.

The menu and the functions shown are adjusted to the currently opened page. By clicking on the outlined "home" symbol we get to the home page of the menu, from where we can navigate to various functions. We can also get just a level back by clicking on the desired level in the same line as the home icon.

This menu can be closed by pressing <Cancel>.

Drag and drop between Bloomberg windows

To use a security from one Bloomberg window in another one, we can drag and drop it from the first one into the second.

In the example above, we are trying to add a security from a different window to a portfolio we are building. When we drop it, the following window (below) appears. In this case, select Merge to add it to the portfolio without overwriting the other securities.

Amber boxes

Boxes filled in amber (orange) color represent the data for which we can change the parameters. Under this oftentimes fall for example dates, countries, equities, types of data, periodicity, currencies etc.

Typing questions

If we are looking for something specific that we do not know how to navigate to, we can also use the command line to write a query or question in natural language and the Terminal will show us the most relevant results for the question in the form of data, functions etc. Sometimes it can be useful to click on the FAQ tab.

Another example of using natural language:

Navigation using numbers

A way to navigate through the database even faster is by using the numbering that is often present in the menus and tabs. Instead of writing the function mnemonic in the command line or by clicking with the mouse, typing just the printed number in the command line and pressing <GO> works the same way.

Typing 8 <GO> in the example below will forward us to the ESG tab without having to use the mouse.

We can also use the numbering in menus, such as in the Related Functions Menu:
