Events can also be added to the chart in the same way as additional securities. Simply type the desired phrase in the Add Data box. Let us try adding dividend payouts. Upon typing "dividends" we can see the Event section at the bottom of the recommendation drop-down window. Select Dividends from this section and press <GO>:
Little boxes with dividend payout dates appear in the chart. By moving the mouse cursor over a box some details about the dividend will appear, while clicking on it we will be redirected to the CACX (Corporate Action Detail) function that will provide all the details about the payout.
The same can also be done for other types of events, such as News Headlines, Earnings, Insider Transactions and more.
Moving averages can be included/excluded by ticking the Mov Avgs above the chart. To quickly change the colors of MA lines and the length of intervals used in calculations, click on the pencil icon next to Mov Avgs. More options of customization can be accessed from the menu on the right.
Now, let us add another technical indicator, for example bollinger bands. Just as we included additional time series to the chart in the Equity charting section, we include this indicator from the amber box Add Data on the top-right part of the screen. We select Bollinger Bands under STUDY.
The indicator gets included in the chart. How to customize the display (using the pencil in the section on the right) has also been explored already in Equity charting.
Adding indicators, events and such can take some time. Bloomberg terminal allows us to save the currently selected additions as a template. Therefore, we can choose the saved template for any security and the same indicators will be automatically applied to the chart.
To do this, go to Actions -> Save As...
A window will open in which we have to choose option Save chart as a template (use with any security). Then click Save.
To apply these settings to a chart of any security, go to Actions -> G - My Graphs. Find the desired template and click on it. The chart will open using the preferences from the template.
