Instructions for use

Drawing charts

The charting app can be accessed:

  • always through the category bar on top by selecting Charting -> Chart Builder,
  • when we have the company overview open, by selecting Chart Builder under Charting on the left side.

If we choose the second option, the chart will by default show the stock of the viewed company. To add another entity to the graph, click on COMPARE above it and find the desired company, index, commodity or else from the window that opens.

To add time series of various financial metrics, use METRICS above the chart. Some of the frequently used indicators appear upon selection ...

... while others can be found from the window that pops up with the selection of Search for a metric -> Advanced Lookup.

Choose Return on Equity % and click Apply.

We then need to select Add to display the chosen indicators.

Let us modify the chart, namely select the display interval to 5 years (select 5Y on top).

In the table below the graph we can find a list of data that is currently charted. Now delete the Volume data by clicking on the outline bin icon (below).

Deleting all data displayed for a certain company is performed in the same way — clicking the trash can icon in a row with the company name deletes all data for the company AMD.

To edit the display settings for a certain metric select the outlined button and then Edit Series.

A window with preferences such as colors, display style and more opens:

ANNOTATIONS allows us to choose between different key events for selected companies which will be shown on the chart as interactive symbols — by moving the mouse cursor over a symbol, additional information about the event will be shown.

Exporting to Excel and saving

By using the marked symbols on the top-right part of the page we can search among the previously saved charts, save the currently displayed one to Capital IQ or export it to Excel (both the image and the data used to draw it get exported).

By right-clicking on the graph, a new menu opens, which allows us to, among other options, save the chart as an image or again export it to Excel.
