The Screening function is used to generate lists of various entities that meet the selected criteria. For the list of companies we will use Apps -> Screener.
In the Screener Datasets section, we have various filters that we can apply. Above that, we also find a line with larger search subcategories.
Let's first set the filter to only European companies. Under Company Details, click on the Geography criterion.
A new section opens, in which we tick Europe and then select Add.
We can see that there are over 250,000 companies from the database that meet this criterion. Let's add a new filter by selecting Key Financials under Financials.
Let's find the total revenue (Total Revenue), select it and then set the criterion to at least 10 million EUR (Note: in Capital IQ Pro, by default, the numbers are mostly expressed in millions or in thousand). For the period, select the LTM setting ("last twelve months" — the last 12 months). To complete the process, select Add again.
On the left side of the list of selected criteria, we can change their order. On the right side, we can see that approximately 30,000 companies remain in the selection.
Let's now change the location setting from Europe to Slovenia. Clicking on the already selected value opens the same window as before, after which we search for Slovenia. Check the box and select Update.
Select Company Details -> Industry Classification.
Check the categories of financial institutions and insurance companies and select Add.
Now let's display the remaining 15 companies with Run Screen.
The results are displayed in a table. The Where is my Company option above the results table allows us to see which of the selected filters match and which do not for any company that is not currently in the table.
We have chosen the company Krka, which we see meets two of the three criteria and is therefore not in the table of results.
The displayed table can be changed using the Select a Template button. In the advanced options, they give us different value displays for the selected companies.
Export for Screener is only possible to Excel. A multi-sheet file is exported to Excel — the displayed table from the browser and the sheet with the applied criteria.
The exported file will look something like this.
