The FitchConnect Add-In for Microsoft Excel allows us to use a larger number of data in the table (up to 5000 institutions instead of 500) and older historical data (30 years instead of 10) than directly from the browser.
The Templates and Chart features are introduced below, and some others are just briefly mentioned here:
In order to use the FitchConnect Excel add-in (Add-In), we must first download it, if it is not already downloaded. By clicking on the Support Center button (marked with a question mark), we get to the page where we can do this. We select the appropriate version, download and install it.
After installation, a new Fitch Connect tab will appear in Excel.
Select Login to log in to Fitch Connect through the window that opens.
The Templates tab of the Excel add-in allows you to download a variety of pre-made templates that can make using Fitch Ratings PRO data much easier. As is generally the case with Excel Add-in, when using it we have 30 years of historical data and the use of up to 5000 financial instruments, so the suggestions are very useful for e.g. data transfer of major bank portfolios.
When we select the Templates tab, a new window opens.
Let's download, for example, the Sovereign Peer Analysis Template. This will help us compare credit ratings and other data from different countries. To download, select download on the right.
The template is downloaded as a new Excel file, which we save and open. Let's take a look at the structure of these files using the example of the downloaded file.
The file contains several sheets. The first — Quick Start Guide — usually introduces us to certain functions, options and instructions for use:
The main sheet is a Template that contains the user interface. As we can see from the screen capture, we have cells available (on the left) to change the displayed data. Some other Templates may have a very different structure.
Then there are the Data and Sovereigns Reference sheets, which are intended for referencing the data in the Template and editing it.
